How to Buy ICON ICX

ICON (ICX) was the native token of the ICON blockchain, which is transitioning to the SODAX ecosystem and its SODA token. The ICON Foundation announced that ICX staking rewards and new token emissions ended in March 2026, and the ICON network is scheduled to shut down on December 31, 2026. Exchange availability has changed significantly during this transition, so historical buying guides may no longer be accurate.

How to Buy ICON ICX, ICON ICX, ICON

What Is ICON (ICX)?

ICX was used to pay transaction fees on the ICON blockchain and supported network governance and validator delegation. Holders could historically delegate ICX to public representatives and participate in the network’s staking system.

In March 2026, ICON entered economic shutdown, ending native ICX staking rewards and emissions. The project is now transitioning its ecosystem toward SODAX, a cross-network decentralized finance (DeFi) platform. SODA is the successor token involved in the migration from ICX.

The official migration schedule sets December 31, 2026, as both the ICON network shutdown date and the final deadline for migrating ICX to SODA. Since September 25, 2026, the migration has been one-way: ICX can be converted to SODA, but SODA can no longer be converted back to ICX through the official migration process.

How to Buy ICON (ICX)

Traditionally, buying ICON involved creating an account on a cryptocurrency exchange, completing any required identity verification, depositing funds, and placing an order for ICX. Some platforms offered trading pairs such as ICX/USDT or ICX against a local currency.

That process only works if an exchange currently supports ICX deposits and trading in your region. Because several exchanges have delisted the token during the transition, do not deposit funds or place an order based solely on an old article, search result, or price-tracking page.

Check the exchange’s official announcements and live spot market first. Confirm that buying and deposits are enabled—not simply that the exchange still displays an ICX information page or historical chart.

Where Can You Still Buy ICX?

As of October 27, 2026, several major centralized exchanges have officially announced ICX delistings:

  • Binance: announced that ICX spot trading would end on September 3, 2026. Official announcement
  • KuCoin: scheduled ICX delisting for October 8, 2026. Official announcement
  • OKX: announced the removal of ICX spot trading pairs in September 2026. Official delisting notices
  • Bitvavo: ended ICX deposits, trading, and withdrawals on October 2, 2026, according to its official notice.
  • Bitrue: closed ICX spot trading on September 30, 2026. Its notice set October 30 as the withdrawal deadline. Official notice

These notices do not prove that every exchange worldwide has stopped trading ICX. We could not verify a currently active ICX spot market from the official sources checked for this article. Check an exchange’s live market page and latest announcements before assuming ICX is available. A listing on a token-tracking website alone is not confirmation that you can place an order.

How to Buy ICX on a Centralized Exchange

If you find an exchange that confirms ICX spot trading is still available in your region, the traditional process is:

  1. Check the platform’s supported countries and local restrictions.
  2. Open its live spot-market page and confirm an active ICX trading pair.
  3. Create an account and complete identity verification if required.
  4. Review whether ICX deposits and withdrawals are enabled before transferring assets.
  5. Fund the account using a supported payment method or cryptocurrency.
  6. Review the order details and fees before submitting an order.
  7. Confirm the order status and resulting balance in your account.

Important: deposit, trading, and withdrawal services can have different suspension dates. A token might still appear in an account after trading has stopped, while deposits or withdrawals may already be disabled. Never send ICX to a platform without confirming that it accepts deposits on the exact network you intend to use.

Can You Buy ICX Through a Decentralized Exchange?

A decentralized exchange (DEX) may display token pairs or pools associated with ICX, but that does not automatically mean a usable market exists. Check whether the asset is native ICX or a wrapped representation, whether the pool has meaningful liquidity, and whether transactions are functioning. Thin liquidity can cause substantial price impact or make a trade difficult to execute.

Also distinguish a DEX purchase from the official ICX-to-SODA migration interface. Migration converts existing ICX into SODA under the program’s rules; it is not a way to buy new ICX. Review the SODAX support documentation for current requirements and deadlines before interacting with the migration tool.

The process of buying ICON has changed as the network approaches its scheduled shutdown on December 31, 2026. Several prominent exchanges have already delisted ICX, and a currently available purchase market should never be assumed from historical listings.

Verify live trading, regional access, and deposit and withdrawal policies directly with a platform. Understand the one-way migration to SODA and its deadline before taking action.
